In his role as Development Manager for Marlboro Development Team (MDT), Tom is responsible for growing MDT’s presence in Georgia and beyond through the pursuit of build-to-suits, speculative development, sale/leasebacks, and strategic acquisitions in the industrial sector.
Tom brings more than 40 years of experience in business development, banking, real estate development, and the construction industry. Early in his career, as a corporate lender for the Bank of New York, he led the bank’s participation in a $1.2 billion loan for the development of the Boeing 757 and 767 commercial aircraft. As Atlantic Division Manager for Suitt Construction and a member of the company’s Board of Directors, he was responsible for the $32 million expansion for Brown and Williamson Tobacco as well as the construction of a distribution center for Whirlpool. From 1998-2002, he led day-to-day economic development efforts for Southern Energy (a wholly owned subsidiary of Southern Company) in the Bahamas, Philippines, China, and Korea. Most recently, Tom served as Chairman of the Board of THS Constructors. While there, he helped grow the company from $20 million in industrial construction sales to sales in excess of $100 million.
Tom has been a member of more than 20 economic development organizations over his career.
