Marlboro Development Team Makes Donation to Marlboro County School District

Marlboro Development Team (MDT) presented a $200,000 “Oversized Check” to the Marlboro County School District Board of Education at their regular scheduled meeting on Feb. 3 with a portion of the donation earmarked for a new state-of-the-art scoreboard to be installed at Marlboro High School’s McAlpine Stadium.

MDT, which is the for-profit development subsidiary of the Marlboro Electric Cooperative, Inc., will make $20,000 annual payments to the school district for 10 years.

“Since its inception MDT has been blessed with continued success, and our Board of Directors wanted to do something special for the school district,” MDT President and CEO William Fleming said.  “We are confident the superintendent and the Board of Education will use the funds for the best benefit of the school district.”

Fleming, who also serves as president & CEO of Marlboro Electric Cooperative, was joined by Matt Haynie, Vice President, Marketing and Public Relations, at the recent ceremonial check presentation.

“Marlboro Development Team is a great partner for our schools and our community as a whole,” Superintendent Dr. Gregory McCord said.  “This donation is just one example of their support for students and we look forward to working with them in the future.”

The scoreboard is manufactured by NEVCO, Inc., and is American made.  An illustration provided by the company shows the custom designed LED scoreboard is 24 feet wide and 8 feet high.  The full color video display will be 15.75 feet wide and 8.85 feet high and will be used for playbacks and videos.  A 4-foot-high decorative arch will sit atop the structure emblazoned with the MCHS Bulldog logo.

The modern display is expected to be installed in mid-March and will be powered with electricity from Marlboro Electric.

MDT has successfully managed construction projects in 17 states and developed more than 4 million square feet for clients, including Harbor Freight, Inland Port Dillon, Wyman Gordon, AutoZone, Huber Engineered Woods, LLC; Multi-Pack Solutions, Sonoco, Container Maintenance Corporation and Symmetrix Composite Tooling.
